Third-grade students today learned about friction and gravity in science by building "sliders" using materials such as sandpaper, foam, buttons, and cardboard. Students used pennies as weights and applied principles of slope to complete their science projects. Another great day to be in 3rd grade.

Congratulations to the Touchet Elementary students chosen for the month of February to have lunch & ice cream with the principal. How do students get chosen? Each month students have the opportunity to earn behavior slips by showing respect, solving problems, and/or making good decisions. The behavior slip gets put into a drawing. Students whose slips get drawn get to have lunch with the principal and receive an ice-cream treat.

REMINDER: There is no school this coming Monday, February 21st in observance of Presidents Day.

Ranger Mary from Sacajawea Park showed Mrs. McKeown's 5th and 6th grade PE students how to cast a fishing line. The students enjoyed fishing; we heard lots of giggles. Thank you, Ranger Mary and Mrs. McKeown, for the opportunity to cast a line.

Andrew graduated from Touchet in 2016 and then went on to Gonzaga to earn a degree in Computer Science. Andrew shared with the students what his typical workday looks like and how exciting his job is. After the presentation, several students gathered around Andrew eager to learn more about computer science careers.
